Living in a close relationship with another person can be an experience of comfort, support, compassion, and companionship, and at times the experience can be one of distress, frustration and even despair. Close relationships go through different phases of development and growth, just as the individuals in the relationship.

Many of the couples who have attended our service reported a sense of relief and clarity within a few sessions.  Practical and effective strategies can assist couples to communicate honestly, and get to the heart of emotional issues, and address negative patterns of arguing, emotional disconnection and withdrawal.

Here are some of the issues we can address in counselling:

  • Ineffective communication
  • Impact of addictions within a marriage/relationship
  • Lack of emotional connection
  • Drifting apart in the relationship/marriage
  • Extra-marital affairs, cheating or online infidelity
  • Insecurity and lack of trust
  • Constant arguing which leads to more emotional disconnection
  • Pressure in regards to finances, and how money is spent
  • Not working a a team
  • Not being on the same page on parenting
  • Blended families and step parenting
  • Adjusting to major changes
  • Empty nest and adjusting to major change
  • Domestic and family violence

Over time any relationship/marriage moves through developmental stages which can create stress and confusion.  This is an opportunity  for growth and reconnecting in a significant way.
